David Lazar - Film Composer

After graduating from the Queensland University of Music in 2005 with a Master of Music in film composition, David has been employed to provide music for projects of all descriptions, most notably short films and documentaries. He also works scoring promotional and advertising material, recently including music for the Royal Brisbane Hospital's 140th Anniversary DVD, Kenmore High School’s promotional DVD, and music for the current Map Magazine cinema commercial. He also has international experience in the industry, as he corresponded with a Singaporean film company to compose the promotional music for a leading Health Care company in 2005. David has scored some 40 projects, his latest projects include providing the music for the comedy film “Carpool” starring actress Kerry Armstrong, the short film “Discovering Lily” by Lyn Kidd, the founder of the Queensland’s Actor’s Workshop, and the drama “Tunnel Vision” directed by Luke Mayze, two time past winner of the Queensland New Film Makers Award.

'Julian' Score Completed

David has just completed his latest score for the 20 minute short film "Julian". He conducted many instrumentalists including a 6 piece string ensemble to record the 13 minutes of music, and 2 cues have been added to the mp3 download list. The film will be screened at the Hoyts Regent in Brisbane city on August 4 2007 as part of the QNFA.

Queensland Short Film Festival

Six films scored by David Lazar were screened at the Queensland Film Festival at the Queensland University of Technology Loft Theatre held over three days in November 2006.
These films were: Tunnel Vision, Carpool, Shorn, Karaoke King, Seven Vows, and The Renovators.
The event was organised by renowned filmmaker Michael Noonan, and was a major success for the exposure and promotion of Queensland films.
